SUSTAINABILITY
As a clothing brand, we understand the responsibilities we need to uphold to care for our environment. Therefore, we wanted to make sure that our brand and our clothes from start until it is delivered to your doorstep is eco-friendly and sustainable.
We took the steps to make our packaging 100% biodegradable using cornstarch as our packaging material instead of plastic. Our shopping bags are also sustainable and reusable! We now use tote bags instead of plastic bags to encourage our customers to reuse them whenever they shop at our store. We aim to also encourage and inspire our customers to recycle, reduce and reuse.
We now send out receipts via e-mail or sms to reduce the amount of paper that is used for receipt in addition to cutting down on paper waste, this will help save some trees!
We wanted our fabric to be silk, but at the same time we also wanted to make sure it is the most eco-friendly and sustainable one we can offer. This is why we chose Mulberry Silk as our fabric choice for our clothing.
Another eco-friendly plus to mulberry silk is the fact that it is biodegradable. It can even be used to give back to the earth by making mulch or compost.
The strength of this type of silk is ironic considering it is such a soft and welcoming material. It is in fact considered to be one of the most durable natural fibers on the market! You can expect mulberry silk materials to last up to 20 years.
Raising silkworms is very sustainable, and the production of the silk leaves such a small carbon footprint that it is near zero. Approximately 100 silkworms feed off of one mulberry tree. This translates to one acre of trees providing food for silkworms to produce up to 35 pounds of raw mulberry silk. Silk farming advances the sustainability of mulberry trees because they are the source of food for silkworms.
